Caring for Caregivers

A Day of Refreshment and Recollection for Family Caregivers

Friday

September 17, 2010

Are you someone who has responsibility for providing physical and emotional care for a sick or disabled loved one? If you are, you are not alone. In a recent study by the National Family Caregivers Association, 26.6% of those surveyed indicated that they served in a family caregiver role during the previous year.

Every caregiver’s experience is intensely personal. Studies cannot tell the real story of how difficult giving care can be. There are thousands of caregivers who could be classified as “in crisis,” struggling physically, emotionally, and financially.

If you are a caregiver, this day of prayerful support is an opportunity for you to give yourself a day to care for the caregiver. This day is for you!

Schedule:
8:15 am: Registration and Welcome
8:45 am: Morning Prayer
9:00 am: Presentation: Serenity to accept the things I cannot change

10:00 am: Presentation: Courage to change the things I can

1:00 pm: Presentation: The wisdom to know the difference

You give of yourself for someone whom you love who cannot take care of him/herself. Your dedication and generosity are an inspiration to many. Allow us to honor you by taking advantage of this opportunity to take care of yourself. May we serve you? Come to our mountain for a few precious hours.

You can use this day to connect with other caregivers in a relaxed environment, gain new information and simply relax, free of responsibilities of care giving for just a little while.
